    Egg Production and Physical Quality in Cortunix Cortunix Japonica Fed Diet Containing Piperine as Phytogenic Feed Additive

    The objective of this study was to determine the effect of piperine as a phytogenic feed additive on quail performances and egg quality. The experiment used a completely randomized design with five treatments and four replications and used ten quails with one week of age in each replication. The piperine was added to the diets at concentrations of 0 (T0), 15 (T1), 30 (T2), 45 (T3), and 60 mg/kg body weight (T4) for 8 consecutive weeks. The results showed that addition of 60 mg/kg body weight (T4) of piperine significantly (P<0.05) reduced feed consumption, egg production, egg mass, income over feed cost (IOFC), and increased water consumption as compared to the other treatments. The addition of 15-60 mg piperine/kg body weight significantly (P<0.05) reduced eggshell weight and increased egg yolk color score. The conclusion of this experiment was that the addition of piperine at 15-45 mg/kg body weight could be used as phytogenic feed additive to improve performance, IOFC, haugh unit, and yolk color

    Rumen Fermentation, Blood Metabolites, and Performance of Sheep Fed Tropical Browse Plants

    The in vitro study was designed to evaluate total gas production, dry matter degradability (DMD), and VFA profile; while in vivo study was designed to evaluate nutrient intakes, blood metabolites, and performance of sheep fed native grass mixed with Calliandra calothyrrus (CC), Leucaena leucochepala (LL), Moringa oleifera (MO), Gliricidea sepium (GS), and Artocarpus heterophyllus (AH). The best three from the in vitro results were used to formulate diets in in vivo study. Sixteen male growing sheep (average BW 20 kg) were fed 100% native grass (NG) as control; 70% NG + 30% GS; 70% NG + 30% MO; and 70% NG + 30% AH. Nutrient consumptions, DMD, blood metabolites, and sheep performances were analyzed by using Completely Randomized Design. The in vitro results showed that the total gas production and DMD of CC and LL were the lowest (P<0.05) while the highest was found in GS, MO, and AH treatments (P<0.05). Meanwhile, the in vivo results showed that nutrient intakes (DM, CP, and CF) of GS and AH rations were the highest. The ADG, concentration of albumin, and globulin in all treatments were similar, while total serum protein, triglycerides, and glucose concentration in MO and AH rations were higher than others. Serum cholesterol concentration in MO ration was the lowest, meanwhile the concentration of IgG was the highest (P<0.05). Supplementation of 30% MO was the best choice for optimum rumen fermentation and maintaining health status of local sheep

    Variasi Gen Mitokondria Cytochrome B Pada Dua Jenis Burung Kakatua Putih (Cacatua Alba Dan C. Moluccensis)

    Variation in The Mitochondrial Cytochrome b Gene in The Two White Cockatoo Species (Cacatua alba and C. molucensis). DNA sequence variation in the 791-bp of mitochondrial cytocrome b gene in the two white cockatoo species (C. alba and C. moluccensis) were analyzed in this study. Two pairs of internal primers used to amplify two fragments of cytochrome b from 30 individuals cockatoo. The results show that there were genetic variations among individuals of C. alba and C. moluccensis. Twenthy eight haplotypes occured in 30 individuals studied; 14 haplotypes (Hca1-Hca14) in 16 individuals of C. alba, and 14 haplotypes (Hcm1-Hcm14)in 14 individuals of C. moluccensis. Hca5 was dominant and owned by 3individuals (H37, KBS62, 28, BBP88). Within C. alba there were 18 variable sites, 0.00701 of nucleotide diversity (Pi), 0.975 ± 0.035 of haplotype diversity (Hd), and 0.005 ± 0.002 of mean genetic distance. Whitin C. moluccensis there were 18 variable sites, 0.00830 of Pi, and 0.9999± 0.028 of Hd, and 0,010 ± 0.002 (0.001-0.010) mean genetic distance. Divergence between C. alba and C. moluccensis was 0.064 ± 0.088 %. Neigbor-joining (NJ) analysis showed two main clusters consisted of : C. alba and C. moluccensis separately, and indicated that althoughthere were some variations in the DNA sequences, but the individuals within a species remain clustered in the same cluster

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui metode pembelajaran manakah yang lebih efektif antara metode Student Teams Achivement Division (Berbagi Prestasi sebagai Tim) atau metode ekspositori terhadap kemampuan memahami nilai-nilai multikultural dalam cerpen “Parompa Sadun Kiriman Ibu” karya Hasan Al Banna siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 1 Teluk Mengkudu tahun pembelajaran 2013/2014. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas XI dengan jumlah 320 siswa dan yang menjadi sampel penelitian berjumlah 80 siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen dengan model post-test only design group. Instrument yang digunakan adalah pilihan berganda. Berdasarkan pengolahan data diperoleh hasil post-test pada kelas kontrol dengan rata- rata 63.63, sedangkan hasil post-test pada kelas eksperimen diperoleh rata-rata 70.25. Dari uji homogenitas didapat bahwa sampel penelitian ini berasal dari populasi yang homogen. Setelah uji normalitas dan homogenitas, didapatlah to sebesar 2.73 ; setelah to diketahui, kemudian dikonsultasikan dengan ttabel pada taraf signifikasi 5% dengan df = (N1 + N2) - 2 = 40 + 40 - 2 = 78, dari df 78 diperoleh taraf signifikan 5% = 2.39. karena to yang diperoleh lebih besar dari ttabel yaitu 2.73 > 2.39, hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima

    Judul skripsi ini adalah “Pengaruh Implementasi Sistem Manajemen Mutu ISO 9001:2008 Terhadap Peningkatan Kualitas Layanan di UPT Perpustakaan Politeknik Negeri Semarang”. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui seberapa besar pengaruh implementasi sistem manajemen mutu ISO 9001:2008 terhadap peningkatan kualitas layanan di UPT Perpustakaan Politeknik Negeri Semarang. Desain penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan jenis penelitian deskriptif dan kategori penelitian korelasi. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah seluruh anggota UPT Perpustakaan Politeknik Negeri Semarang. Sampel yang dibutuhkan adalah 100 responden dengan teknik pengambilan sampel dengan rumus Slovin. Analisis data yang digunakan adalah analisis deskriptif, analisis regresi linier sederhana, uji asumsi klasik, dan koefisien determinan yang diolah dengan menggunakan bantuan program SPSS versi 21. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa uji signifikansi untuk penelitian ini dengan uji t menggunakan taraf signifikansi 5% diperoleh t hitung 15,566 > t tabel 1,660, dan nilai sig sebesar 0,000, sehingga H1 ditolak dan H0 diterima artinya ada pengaruh signifikan antara variabel X (implementasi sistem manajemen mutu ISO 9001:2008) dengan variabel Y (kualitas layanan). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat pengaruh yang sangat besar antara penerapan implementasi sistem manajemen mutu ISO 9001:2008 terhadap peningkatan kualitas layanan di UPT Perpustakaan Politeknik Negeri Semarang. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan nilai koefisien determinan sebesar 0,709 (70,9%) dan sisanya sebesar 29,1% dipengaruhi oleh variabel lain diluar penelitian

    Phylogenetic Relationships Within Cockatoos (Aves: Psittaciformes) Based on DNA Sequences of the Seventh Intron of Nuclear ?-Fibrinogen Gene

    Hubungan Kekerabatan Kakatua (Aves: Psittaciformes) Berdasarkan Sekuen DNA dariIntron ke Tujuh dari Gen ?--fibrinogen. Hubungan kekerabatan diantara burung kakatuamasih menjadi perdebatan, khususnya menyangkut posisi dari Nymphycus hollandicus. Intronpada gen ?-fibrinogen telah diketahui berguna untuk mempelajari filogeni dari beberapakelompok burung, oleh karena itu penelitian ini menggunakan sekuen DNA dari intron ketujuhpada gen ini (?-fibint7) untuk mengkonstruksi filogeni dari enam genus (Cacatua,Callocephalon, Eolophus, Calyptorhynchus, Probosciger, dan Nymphicus) yang terdapat didunia berdasarkan analisis neighbor-joining (NJ) and maximum-parsimony (MP). Ditemukanbeberapa indel (insersi-delesi) pada sekuen DNA dari â-fibint7 kakatua, sehingga panjangsekuen DNA bervariasi diantara taxa-taxa yang diteliti. Tidak terjadi saturasi antara substitusi transisi dengan transversi, dan juga antara transversi dengan jarak genetik. Tribe Cacatuiniyang terdiri dari tiga genus Cacatua, Callocephalon, dan Eolophus bersifat monophyletic.Meskipun hubungan diantara spesies dari genus Cacatua tidak terungkap dengan jelas, tetapiC. alba, C. galerita, C. goffini, C. sanguinea, C. moluccensis dan C. sulphurea berada didalam satu group, dan C. leadbeateri relatif terpisah dari species-species congeneric lainnya.Callocephalon secara filogenetik terpisah jauh dari genus-genus lainnya pada tribe Cacatuini.Tribe Calyptorhyncini yang terdiri dari Probosciger dan Calyptorhynchus adalah paraphyletic.Calyptorhynchus tampak monophyletic. Nymphicus (tribe Calopsittacini) menjadi cladebasal dari kakatua

    Microbial Population and Fermentation Characteristic in Response to Sapindus Rarak Mineral Block Supplementation

    This experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of supplementation with lerak extract combined with mineral block on protozoal and bacterial population, and fermentation characteristic in vitro. The experimental design was completely randomized block design with 3 treatments and 4 replications. Control diet was a substrate that consisted of concentrate, forage and feed block with ratio 50 : 48 : 2, respectively. The treatments as a substrate were: control diet (C), C + 0.09% lerak extract, and C + 0.18% lerak extract from the total ration. Variables observed were protozoal and bacterial population, dry matter and organic matter degradability, N-NH3 and total volatile fatty acid (VFA) concentration. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA). The result showed that there were no significant effect (P>0.05) for all parameter measured with lerak extract supplementation up to 0.18% in the presence of mineral block. However, supplementation of lerak extract 0.18% only slightly reduced protozoal numbers but tended to increase bacterial numbers. Dry matter and organic matter degradability and concentration of N-NH3 were similar among treatments. Volatile fatty acids profile changed which propionate tended to increase and acetate tended to decrease and ratio of acetate to propionate tended to decrease. In conclusion, addition of lerak extract up to 0.18% from total ration in the presence of mineral block was not yet effective to depress protozoal population, but could modify fermentation characteristic in vitro
